Ralph Della Cava “English speakers owe Mark Carlyon an enormous debt of gratitude. His translations of the classic accounts by Rio de Janeiro’s great writers and raconteurs of the city’s splendid past are impeccably rendered not only into the proverbial King’s English, but also into the fluid and ever-reinvented English vernacular of our times.

It is Mark’s renditions that make the beautifully bound volumes in the ICCV series true collectors’ items.”
